HISTORY
Glan started in October 8, 1914 as Colony No. 9 of the colonization project of the government. During its early stages, the administration was solely in the hands of the colony superintendents, but as the colonists and their needs multiplied, the functions of the government passed into the hands of the deputy governor, who, invariably, was the commanding officer of the local force of the Philippine Constabulary.

POPULATION
Glan has a total population of Eighty Three Thousand Fifty One (83,051) as of May 1, 2000 ( Source: National Statistics Office, Population Census ).The bulk of the municipality’s population is in barangay Poblacion, considered the urban center of the municipality with a population of 8,041 or4 9.70% of the municipality’s total population of 83,051. Meanwhile the least populated barangay is Mudan with only 1,117 or 1.34 percent of the total population.

RELIGION
Glan is predominantly Roman Catholic community with (76.86%) of its population belonging to the Roman Catholic religion. This is followed by Islam (7.23%) and the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (5.04%). The rest are of various existing affiliates of modern day Christian and non- Christian religion.

TOURISM
Bounded on the east by Davao Del Sur, on the north by Malapatan, Sarangani Province, on the west by South China Sea, and to the south by Sarangani Bay. The terrain of Glan is characterized by flatlands, rolling hills and mountains. Most land areas have been converted to agriculture and fishponds.Glan has a great potential tourism development due to its geographical location and proximity sophisticated transportation and communication facilities which are found in the City of General Santos and district cultural heritage. Also, tourist sites of major importance are abundant in the municipality such as white sanded beaches, lake, caves, diving sites and waterfalls.
